Beginner Blogger Tips.

I know I already put a post up just yesterday… but I just had to click that Publish button. This idea popped into my head… I started typing… and it was ready…

So, as you all know, I’m still new to the blogging world. However, I have learnt/observed a few things that I wanted to share with you all (maybe you are new yourself or you know someone that is… or you just wanna read)…

Where I type.

Where I type.

(These aren’t in order of importance)

Be yourself

When I first started blogging, I wasn’t really being myself (I edited it so you won’t find it haha but I was typing really weirdly :/ ) My friend noticed and she said to me, “Be yourself”. I thought to myself –

“It’s so true. People are gonna click follow because of how I write. It’s really hard trying to be someone else – that will be stressful…”

So yep be yourself – there’s only one you for a reason.

Make it easy for people to follow you

Recently, I came across a blogger. Her pages were really good and I really wanted to follow her. However, I just could not find a follow button or any way to follow her. Trust me guys, I looked. In the end, I gave up. What I’m trying to type is – make sure your ‘Follow’ button is easy to find, so that people can follow you.

Proof Read and Spell Check

I’m a bit of a make-sure-there-are-no-mistakes maniac. Actually – I really am. I can’t even count on my hands how many times I proof read. I think this is important because you want your page to look as professional as possible. If there are spelling and grammar mistakes everywhere, it just looks bad hehe 🙄 .

Avoid black/really dark backgrounds

If a blog is hard to read, it probably won’t be read. Black is a big no (my opinion) for the background of where your text is. You don’t want people to be straining their eyes to read your posts – it’ll put them off. I would say, go for a white background, or a pale colour.

Straightforward Layout

I’m not saying have a really boring layout. Just make sure there isn’t too much going on. You don’t want your readers’ eyes to be jumping around, not knowing what to read. Fun but focused, is what I say.

As soon as I get an idea for a post, I create a draft so that I always have things to work on and publish. We’ll all experience bloggers block at some point but the key for me, is making drafts and giving myself time to go over them.

Keep Going. People are reading

At first, when you start blogging, it’s easy to start thinking –

“No one is even reading. My goodness I have no followers.”

No one starts off with hundreds or thousands of followers. Try not to covet and become jealous of other bloggers – they started where you are now. Keep going. If you give up and stop, you’ll never see how far you could’ve gone. Anyway, it should be something you enjoy; your main focus ought not to be how many people are following. Remember – you’ll always have more readers than followers (if that makes sense). Some people never click follow – but they do read.

How are you finding blogging? What tips do you have?

TS 🙂

P.S. I have a product review coming this week!
